In the 13th minute, Manuel Prestes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Agenor Fernandes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 23 minutes into the match, Os Loucos f.c's Luís Fernando Pereira sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Tiago Gabriel Nunes narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 45th minute, Romário Fernandez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Manuel Prestes struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Belmiro Peixoto didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Guacoce EC. In the 57th minute Manuel Prestes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Belmiro Peixoto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 59th minute of the match, Marcos Queiroz tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Tiago Gabriel Nunes saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Guacoce EC's Manuel Prestes got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Agenor Fernandes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Belmiro Peixoto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Zeca Cardoso fell near the penalty area in the 79th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Os Loucos f.c's protests and gave Zeca Cardoso a yellow card for diving instead. After 83 minutes, Benjamim Sampaio mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Guacoce EC and the Os Loucos f.c players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 83 played minutes Guacoce EC got a freekick which was hit by Benjamim Sampaio. If Agenor Fernandes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Belmiro Peixoto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Manuel Prestes in the 90th minute of play.
