After 7 minutes of play, Itapiche's Mané Quirino made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Róbson Romero was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 10th minute, Paulão Ceresso ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Róbson Romero was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. In the 14th minute, Paulão Ceresso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. E.C. Bahia's Gabriel Pinheiro managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Jerônimo Guimarães in the 16 minute of the game. 19 minutes in the game, Jean Branco fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Pedro Luiz Coutinho having to interfere. In the 21st minute Lúcio Aguiar suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Paulão Ceresso during the 21st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. E.C. Bahia's João Carlos Cunha was substituted for Lúcio Aguiar. Paulão Ceresso hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. In the 24th minute, Edgar Bueno sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Itapiche's Pedro Luiz Coutinho didn't even have to move. Itapiche's Pedro Luiz Coutinho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jean Branco in the 25th minute of play. E.C. Bahia's Edu Dracena got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 29 minutes into the game, Gilberto Neves cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Róbson Romero was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 34th minute, Gilberto Neves made a precise shot to the right of Róbson Romero. E.C. Bahia's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-4. João Carlos Cunha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pedro Luiz Coutinho having to interfere. In the 42nd minute, Mané Quirino left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Itapiche fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-5. 48 minutes into the game, Gilberto Neves cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-6. Róbson Romero was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jean Branco made a kick off. Ciro Paraense charged in rather forcefully in the 61st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ciro Paraense the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Itapiche getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Ciro Paraense hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 62nd minute, Jean Branco managed to get in a good position for a shot. E.C. Bahia's supporters rose to their feet, but Jean Branco was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Pedro Luiz Coutinho breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 64th minute, João Carlos Cunha got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Itapiche's zone, João Carlos Cunha stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pedro Luiz Coutinho came out of the goal and João Carlos Cunha tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Mané Quirino hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 77th minute, João Carlos Cunha managed to get in a good position for a shot. E.C. Bahia's supporters rose to their feet, but João Carlos Cunha was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Róbson Romero was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Pedro Luiz Coutinho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leopoldo Machado, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. Pedro Luiz Coutinho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edu Dracena in the 90th minute of play. After a rather tough play, E.C. Bahia's Gabriel Pinheiro got a free kick in the 96th minute. In the 97th minute of the match Jerônimo Guimarães sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Róbson Romero skillfully saved the ball. Róbson Romero made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mané Quirino in the 98th minute. Chants of Itapiche echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as E.C. Bahia had held the ball for most of the match.
