Rendinha's supporters rose to their feet, but Afonsinho Vianna was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ivo Melo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee ignored Kakarotto FC's protests and gave Mauro Severo a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Rendinha booed when Kakarotto FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mauro Severo didn't get a good kick on the ball. 13 minutes into the match, Rendinha's goal looked a bit too open when Cristiano Netto came free, but Geovanni Pombal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Eurico Figueiredo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Geovanni Pombal showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristiano Netto, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. After a rather tough play, Kakarotto FC's Arthur Soares got a free kick in the 20th minute. Arthur Soares charged in rather forcefully in the 22nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Arthur Soares the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Ivo Melo acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 23rd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Eugênio Prestes. After 24 played minutes Kakarotto FC got a freekick which was hit by Mauro Severo. After having played for 26 minutes, Régis Bertassi managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rendinha's supporters crossed their fingers, but Régis Bertassi was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ivo Melo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Régis Bertassi, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Régis Bertassi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Régis Bertassi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Afonsinho Vianna struck a weak shot in the 43rd minute. Ivo Melo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rendinha. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Régis Bertassi to make the kick off. After 54 minutes, Eurico Figueiredo made it 0-2 with a short kick to the right side. Rendinha's Geovanni Pombal tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After a rather tough play, Kakarotto FC's Adelino Pitta got a free kick in the 58th minute. In the 60th minute, Eugênio Prestes sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Kakarotto FC's Ivo Melo didn't even have to move. Régis Bertassi might have been able to make a better finish in the 62nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ivo Melo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Régis Bertassi ran back to his position shaking his head. Eurico Figueiredo hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. Rendinha's Geovanni Pombal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristiano Netto in the 67th minute of play. Régis Bertassi blasted a shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ivo Melo having to make a save. Eugênio Prestes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eurico Figueiredo succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-3 in the 95th playminute. The Kakarotto FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Kakarotto FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
