After 3 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for EC FAMÍLIA SILVA! In the 5th minute there was a penalty for Jeguy AD. Rubens Brito stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Willian Pires. 0-1. In the 8th minute Tomás Hames shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Willian Pires saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 12 minutes into the match, EC FAMÍLIA SILVA's goal looked a bit too open when Tomás Hames came free, but Willian Pires reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Denílson do Valle struck a weak shot in the 16th minute. Hugo Gonçalves didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for EC FAMÍLIA SILVA. After 17 played minutes Jeguy AD got a freekick which was hit by Rubens Brito. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Denílson do Valle managed to get in a good position for a shot. EC FAMÍLIA SILVA's supporters rose to their feet, but Denílson do Valle was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hugo Gonçalves breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Jeguy AD's zone, Marcinho Velasco stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. The supporters of Jeguy AD booed when EC FAMÍLIA SILVA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jardel Madureira didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Tomás Hames had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Denílson do Valle fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hugo Gonçalves having to interfere. Hugo Gonçalves made a fantastic save in the 27th minute, when Basílio Ribeiro sent off a good shot on target. In the 28th minute, Edson Gonçalves hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Tomás Hames came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the Jeguy AD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tomás Hames couldn't finish the play. If Denílson do Valle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, EC FAMÍLIA SILVA's Cristóvão Dias got a free kick in the 34th minute. Willian Pires showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomás Hames, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. Bruninho da Rocha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Willian Pires having to interfere. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tomás Hames to strike the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, EC FAMÍLIA SILVA's Willian Pires got control of the ball when Bruninho da Rocha tried to sneak it across the goal line.
