Edson Secco who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 9thth minute tested the skills of Abel de Queirós when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After 14 minutes, Anderson Batista mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Fausto AD and the Aruana SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 15th match minute, Fausto AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anderson Batista to maneuver through the defense. Narciso Fernandez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 45th minute the ball was on its way in behind Fausto AD's goalkeeper Telmo Guedes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Laerte da Mata received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Telmo Guedes came out and tried to block the shot, but Laerte da Mata slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 54th minute. After having played for 58 minutes, Narciso Fernandez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Aruana SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Narciso Fernandez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to Aruana SC getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Laerte da Mata hit a great ball. César Cabral's late challenge caught a Aruana SC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. After recieving a nice pass, Aruana SC's Wilson Gerber tried to score from far away in the 70th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. In the 72nd minute, Narciso Fernandez fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. When Júlio Torres was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 74 minutes had been played. In the 74th match minute, Fausto AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Júlio Torres to maneuver through the defense. When Walmir Tinoco came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the Aruana SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Walmir Tinoco couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Narciso Fernandez in the 82nd minute of play forced Fausto AD's goalkeeper Telmo Guedes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Walmir Tinoco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Walmir Tinoco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Telmo Guedes having to interfere.
