Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Carlos Toscano started the match with the kick off. Fábio Souto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luiz Vasconcelos in the 3rd minute of play. In the 5th minute Jacinto das Neves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fábio Souto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Igarate EC getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Luiz Vasconcelos hit a great ball. Gilmar Negri received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Ernesto de Castro came out and tried to block the shot, but Gilmar Negri slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 7th minute. With a little luck, Igarate EC's Ernesto de Castro got control of the ball when Carlos Toscano tried to sneak it across the goal line. Carlos Toscano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Igarate EC's Ernesto de Castro proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save Igarate EC from getting a goal against them. In the 30th minute Gilmar Negri shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ernesto de Castro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Carlos Toscano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ernesto de Castro having to interfere. Paulo José Alves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a defensive mix-up in Igarate EC's zone, Carlos Toscano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ernesto de Castro came out of the goal and Carlos Toscano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jacinto das Neves made a kick off. When Carlos Toscano came up free with the goalie in the 53rd minute, the Formiga fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Carlos Toscano couldn't finish the play. Carlos Toscano took the ball and in the 54 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ernesto de Castro. Ernesto de Castro dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. When Gilmar Negri came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the Formiga fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gilmar Negri couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, Formiga's Fábio Souto got control of the ball when Hortêncio Lara tried to sneak it across the goal line. Formiga's Fábio Souto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jacinto das Neves in the 70th minute of play. Ernesto de Castro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gilmar Negri, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Toscano in the 77th minute of play forced Igarate EC's goalkeeper Ernesto de Castro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Formiga's Carlos Toscano in the 78th minute got a chance for a shot 78th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Igarate EC's goalie prevented a goal. In the 79th minute, Paulo José Alves made a precise shot to the right of Ernesto de Castro. Igarate EC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-0. Gilmar Negri fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ernesto de Castro having to interfere. After 85 minutes of play, Formiga's Carlos Toscano made it 5-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ernesto de Castro was left in no man's land by his defense there! When the referee ended the match the Formiga players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
