The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 14 minutes into the match, Aracaji SS's goalkeeper Arthur Dante had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Bruninho Carioca. 25 minutes into the game, Custódio Pernambucano cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Cláudio Mello was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Cláudio Mello didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Custódio Pernambucano went, in the 28th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. Gernando Matos hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. If Custódio Pernambucano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 39th minute Andrézinho Martins shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cláudio Mello saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Custódio Pernambucano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cláudio Mello having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Maragoji's zone, Custódio Pernambucano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cláudio Mello came out of the goal and Custódio Pernambucano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Custódio Pernambucano to strike the kick off in the second half. Custódio Pernambucano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cláudio Mello having to interfere. Andrézinho Martins fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cláudio Mello having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Aracaji SS's zone, Didi Sá stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Arthur Dante came out of the goal and Didi Sá tried to chip the ball over his head. If Didi Sá had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 71 played minutes Aracaji SS got a freekick which was hit by Serginho Esteves. In the 74th minute, Andrézinho Martins fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Cláudio Mello, passed just outside the right post. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Didi Sá in the 82nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Arthur Dante saved Aracaji SS from getting behind. Fábio Brodel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arthur Dante having to interfere. Andrézinho Martins fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cláudio Mello having to interfere. Maragoji's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Custódio Pernambucano 87 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-3. Aracaji SS's Arthur Dante played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bruninho Carioca in the 93rd minute of play. In the 95th match minute, Aracaji SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luís Guilherme Mota to maneuver through the defense. After recieving a nice pass, Maragoji's Rui Guerra tried to score from far away in the 96th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar.
