Josué Silveira made an important save on a dangerous shot by José Paulo Paraense in the 3rd minute. In the 14th minute, Tião Gerber hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 15th minute, André Luís Macedo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ilerneiras EC's supporters rose to their feet, but André Luís Macedo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Josué Silveira breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Piloes's Isaltino Favoretto got a free kick in the 19th minute. In the 20th minute, Andrézinho Medeiros sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Piloes's Josué Silveira didn't even have to move. Claudinei Seco's late challenge caught a Ilerneiras EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Claudinei Seco helped the player get up and apologised. Ilerneiras EC's Dalmo de Almeida pulled a muscle in his leg after 25 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Tião Gerber got his second yellow card in the match during the 25th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. In the 26th match minute, Piloes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tião Gerber to maneuver through the defense. Ilerneiras EC's Andrézinho Medeiros shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 27th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Josué Silveira but with some difficulty. José Paulo Paraense could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 29th minute of the match, but Josué Silveira made a huge save. Afonsinho Passos struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. Adriano Valladares didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Piloes. If José Paulo Paraense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Afonsinho Passos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adriano Valladares having to interfere. José Paulo Paraense sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and José Paulo Paraense made a kick off. If Afonsinho Passos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. José Paulo Paraense sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 63rdth minute of the game José Paulo Paraense who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Piloes's Josué Silveira was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Josué Silveira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from José Paulo Paraense, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. In the 76th minute José Paulo Paraense shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Josué Silveira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 81 minutes into the match, Ilerneiras EC's José Paulo Paraense sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Josué Silveira narrowly saved just below the crossbar. José Paulo Paraense sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 85 minutes, José Paulo Paraense managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ilerneiras EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but José Paulo Paraense was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 94 played minutes Ilerneiras EC got a freekick which was hit by Aírton Vander. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
