In the 14th minute, Ramiro das Neves made a precise shot to the right of Edu do Vale. Manauara SC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. After having played for 17 minutes, Ramiro das Neves managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cedral EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ramiro das Neves was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Edu do Vale made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jorge Mattos in the 23rd minute of play. Custódio Mesquita hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. Ramiro das Neves charged in rather forcefully in the 34th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ramiro das Neves the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Manauara SC booed when Cedral EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ramiro das Neves didn't get a good kick on the ball. Giovanni Lima took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 35th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Filipe Ferraz. Cedral EC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Edu do Vale showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ramiro das Neves in the 37th minute of the match. Pedro Luís Andrade recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Manauara SC's zone, Ramiro das Neves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edu do Vale came out of the goal and Ramiro das Neves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 46th minute, Pedro Luís Andrade got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 47th minute, Décio Fernandez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell José Carlos Negri to make the kick off. Jorge Mattos struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. In the 71st minute Pedro Luís Andrade shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edu do Vale saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 73 minutes into the game, Manauara SC's Waldemar Trigo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Filipe Ferraz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. When the match clock showed 78 minutes, the score became 1-3 when José Carlos Negri sped through Manauara SC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Edu do Vale. In the 80th minute, Jorge Mattos fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. In the 82nd minute, José Carlos Negri reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Edu do Vale. The goal made the score 1-4. If Jorge Mattos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 89 played minutes Manauara SC got a freekick which was hit by Abelardo Seco. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Jorge Mattos managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cedral EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Jorge Mattos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Edu do Vale breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ramiro das Neves got free with Edu do Vale in the 96th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a little luck, Manauara SC's Edu do Vale got control of the ball when Jorge Mattos tried to sneak it across the goal line. When the match was over Cedral EC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Manauara SC throughout the match.
