In the 4th match minute, Palestra was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Artur de Godoi to maneuver through the defense. Maurinho Quadros kicked well hit freekick during the 9th minute of the match. Luiz Guilherme Alves struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Caco Quirino didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Palestra. 19 minutes into the match, Jardel da Silveira notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Tambaqui's Caco Quirino. Caco Quirino was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Claudinho do Vale stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Caetano Salgado's shot from short distance in the 24th minute. Jardel da Silveira hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. In the 28th match minute, Tambaqui was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Maurinho Quadros to maneuver through the defense. Tambaqui's Hernani do Nascimento got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 46 minutes into the match, Jardel da Silveira had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Caco Quirino. Tambaqui's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jardel da Silveira was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Caetano Salgado to strike the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Palestra's goal looked a bit too open when Caetano Salgado came free, but Claudinho do Vale reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jardel da Silveira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jardel da Silveira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Caco Quirino having to interfere. Caetano Salgado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Claudinho do Vale having to interfere. Jardel da Silveira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Caco Quirino having to interfere. Caco Quirino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jardel da Silveira in the 82nd minute of play. Zé Roberto Gomes might have been able to make a better finish in the 89th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Caco Quirino. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Zé Roberto Gomes ran back to his position shaking his head. Caco Quirino showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jardel da Silveira in the 95th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Palestra's Caio Vander got a free kick in the 97th minute. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Palestra fans cheered their team off the field, for while Tambaqui had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
