Lúcio Quirino stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Manuel Zonta's shot from short distance in the 4th minute. In the 11th minute, Adrianinho das Neves hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Ferrugem's Cacá Zilles got a free kick in the 14th minute. Cacá Zilles's late challenge caught a Gallinhos's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cacá Zilles helped the player get up and apologised. In the 17th minute, Cacá Zilles hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lúcio Quirino showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Manuel Zonta, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. Cido Teixeira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cido Teixeira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Chiquinho Carvalho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lúcio Quirino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Manuel Zonta in the 33rd minute of play. In the 36th minute of the match, Manuel Zonta tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Lúcio Quirino saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After 40 minutes of play, Gallinhos's Duarte Cerezo made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Lúcio Quirino was left in no man's land by his defense there! The crowd rose to their feet as Manuel Zonta kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Lúcio Quirino. That made the score 2-0 in the 44 minute of play.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Manuel Zonta was the one to do the kick off. If Cido Teixeira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Manuel Zonta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Gallinhos's zone, Álvaro Tande stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Chiquinho Carvalho came out of the goal and Álvaro Tande tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 62nd minute, Cido Teixeira reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Chiquinho Carvalho. The goal made the score 2-1. When Álvaro Tande came up free with the goalie in the 65th minute, the Ferrugem fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Álvaro Tande couldn't finish the play. If Cido Teixeira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Diogo Mazza in the 72nd minute of play forced Ferrugem's goalkeeper Lúcio Quirino to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 73rd minute Álvaro Tande shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Chiquinho Carvalho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Manuel Zonta blasted a shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Lúcio Quirino having to make a save. In the 77th minute Manuel Zonta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lúcio Quirino saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 81stth minute of the game Gláuber Esteves who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ferrugem's Lúcio Quirino was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 82 minutes into the match, Gallinhos's Gláuber Esteves sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Lúcio Quirino narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 84th match minute, Ferrugem was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edu Freitas to maneuver through the defense. In the 85th minute of the match Dé Alagoano sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Lúcio Quirino skillfully saved the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Manuel Zonta in the 87th minute of play forced Ferrugem's goalkeeper Lúcio Quirino to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 96th minute, Diogo Mazza managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gallinhos's supporters rose to their feet, but Diogo Mazza was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lúcio Quirino breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. There was no doubt that Gallinhos were the better team. Gallinhos's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
