Diamantino da Mata started the match with the kick off. Luizão Figueiredo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Diamantino da Mata in the 3rd minute of play. Leonardo Arósio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luís Fabiano Barbosa having to interfere. A collision led to Ipamery getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Renatinho Gonçalves hit a great ball. In the 32nd minute, Leonardo Arósio got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Diamantino da Mata received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Luizão Figueiredo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 38 minutes into the game, Paulão das Neves was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Piria's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ipamery the free kick. Durvalino Saraiva was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 39th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. If Diamantino da Mata had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match clock showed 46 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Diamantino da Mata sped through Piria's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Luizão Figueiredo. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Leonardo Arósio was the one to do the kick off. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luís Fantini couldn't finish the play. In the 77th minute, Luís Fantini got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Leonardo Arósio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 81st minute of the game. One of Ipamery:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Piria:s goal. In the 86th minute, Piria's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Luís Fantini fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Ipamery's Diamantino da Mata got a good chance for a goal in the 91st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 95 minutes, Diamantino da Mata took a quick shot and it went in 2-2 without a chance for Luizão Figueiredo to make any attempt to save it. Luizão Figueiredo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Diamantino da Mata, who was totally free with the ball in the 98th minute. Ipamery were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Piria to leave the ground with a draw.
