Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Gilberto Correia took the kick off in the first half of the match. 5 minutes into the game, Tostão Perez was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sul-Mato-Grossense's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Carretao the free kick. After a rather tough play, Sul-Mato-Grossense's Tostão Perez got a free kick in the 5th minute. If Reinaldo Madureira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Claudinho Amaral took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Reinaldo Madureira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Abelardo Salgado showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gilberto Correia in the 20th minute of the match. In the 22nd minute of the match Elano de Castro sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Claudinho Amaral skillfully saved the ball. Elano de Castro hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. After having played for 26 minutes, Gilberto Correia managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sul-Mato-Grossense's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gilberto Correia was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Carretao's zone, Gilberto Correia stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Abelardo Salgado came out of the goal and Gilberto Correia tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Reinaldo Madureira in the 31st minute of play forced Sul-Mato-Grossense's goalkeeper Claudinho Amaral to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Abelardo Salgado stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gilberto Correia's shot from short distance in the 33rd minute. Sérgio Leão kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. Júlio Bastos could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 48th minute of the match, but Claudinho Amaral made a huge save. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Reinaldo Madureira stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When Sérgio Leão came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the Carretao fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sérgio Leão couldn't finish the play. After some careless play in the Sul-Mato-Grossense defense, Sérgio Leão kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Claudinho Amaral. The Sul-Mato-Grossense fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Claudinho Amaral should have stopped the shot. A collision led to Sul-Mato-Grossense getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Reinaldo Madureira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Claudinho Amaral having to interfere. Luís Eduardo Medeiros kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. Sérgio Leão sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 75 minutes into the game, Walmir Mesquita was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Carretao's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sul-Mato-Grossense the free kick. 85 minutes into the match, Sérgio Leão notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Sul-Mato-Grossense's Claudinho Amaral. Claudinho Amaral was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a defensive mix-up in Sul-Mato-Grossense's zone, Reinaldo Madureira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Claudinho Amaral came out of the goal and Reinaldo Madureira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Carretao fans cheered their team off the field, for while Sul-Mato-Grossense had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
