He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Flamengo reached it. Michel Bertassi succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 16th playminute. Itaoca's Magno de Queiroz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abelardo Esteves in the 23rd minute of play. Magno de Queiroz made a fantastic save in the 24th minute, when Michel Bertassi sent off a good shot on target. 30 minutes into the game, Alexsandro Madureira was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Flamengo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Itaoca the free kick. The supporters of Itaoca booed when Flamengo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Michel Bertassi didn't get a good kick on the ball. But to his dismay, Andrézinho Nogueira quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Andrézinho Nogueira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Eriberto Meirelles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Michel Bertassi in the 99th minute of play forced Itaoca's goalkeeper Magno de Queiroz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
