Bebeto Moreira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Toninho Mumbach, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match clock showed 25 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Jean Paraíba sped through Gavea FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Bebeto Moreira. Charles Vinhas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zeca Mello in the 30th minute of play. Toninho Mumbach sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bebeto Moreira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jean Paraíba in the 38th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Waldemar Quintal got free with Charles Vinhas in the 42nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Bebeto Moreira breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 81 played minutes Gavea FC got a freekick which was hit by Claudinei Sabóia.
