The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, Marcinho Fernandes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of João Custódio. Galáticos F.C's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Marcinho Fernandes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Marcinho Fernandes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without João Custódio having to interfere. After 13 minutes, Geovani Soares mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Galáticos F.C and the GUARULHOS players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of GUARULHOS booed when Galáticos F.C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Geovani Soares didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tadeu Borgess short, quick shot in the 15thth minute got João Custódio to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. João Custódio didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Marcinho Fernandes went, in the 17th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. In the 26th minute Erik Nunes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rubens Seco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rubens Seco made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcel Schmidt in the 27th minute of play. 30 minutes into the match, GUARULHOS's goal looked a bit too open when Nilton Queiroz came free, but Rubens Seco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 32 minutes into the game, Jeremias da Rocha was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. João Custódio breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Nilton Queiroz to strike the kick off in the second half. Tadeu Borges fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without João Custódio having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Galáticos F.C's zone, Marcinho Fernandes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. João Custódio came out of the goal and Marcinho Fernandes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Willian Santana received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. João Custódio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. João Custódio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for GUARULHOS. If Willian Santana had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 82 minutes into the game, Galáticos F.C's Nilton Queiroz nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Rubens Seco made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. Marcinho Fernandes took the ball and in the 86 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised João Custódio. João Custódio dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-2. After a defensive mix-up in Galáticos F.C's zone, Willian Santana stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tadeu Borges recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 95th minute, Narciso Lucas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tadeu Borges struck a weak shot in the 97th minute. João Custódio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for GUARULHOS. GUARULHOS's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
