The referee ignored Taipu SC's protests and gave José Gaspar a yellow card for diving instead. In the 14th minute, Nilton Pinheiro fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Jeferson Peres was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Hélder Perez showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-1 in the 15 minute of play. With his leg Jeferson Peres managed to avoid a goal in the 19thth minute, when Taipu SC's Nilton Pinheiro fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After a rather tough play, South Dortmund's Rubens Veloso got a free kick in the 20th minute. Edmílson Velasco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Taipu SC's Pedro Luiz Medeiros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ernesto Cruz in the 29th minute of play. In the 32nd minute, Raúl Pontes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 33 minutes in the game, Ernesto Cruz dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. In the 45th match minute, South Dortmund was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rubens Veloso to maneuver through the defense. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Edmílson Velasco to strike the kick off in the second half. Nilton Pinheiro blasted a shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jeferson Peres having to make a save. If Hélder Perez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Edmílson Velasco struck a weak shot in the 57th minute. Pedro Luiz Medeiros didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for South Dortmund. If Hélder Perez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 64th minute Nilton Pinheiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jeferson Peres saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luan Britto's late challenge caught a Taipu SC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Luan Britto helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to South Dortmund getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Luan Britto hit a great ball. Taipu SC's Pedro Luiz Medeiros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edmílson Velasco in the 71st minute of play. The audience was convinced that Edmílson Velasco's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Pedro Luiz Medeiros was relentless in the 77th minute of the game. Rubens Veloso hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. In the 86th minute, Hélder Perez ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jeferson Peres was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. After a rather tough play, South Dortmund's Rubens Veloso got a free kick in the 92nd minute. For all the effort they put into the match, the South Dortmund players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Taipu SC.
