Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Narciso Rocha in the 21st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Flávio Varela prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Flávio Varela took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Narciso Rocha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Marcelinho Magalhães got free with Flávio Varela in the 26th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Marcelinho Magalhães could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 32nd minute of the match, but Flávio Varela made a huge save. When the match had gone on for 41 minutes, Narciso Rocha took a quick shot and it went in 3-0 without a chance for Flávio Varela to make any attempt to save it. When Cássio Madureira fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Itacurubi FC's protests and gave Cássio Madureira a yellow card for diving instead. In the 44th match minute, Itacurubi FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cássio Madureira to maneuver through the defense. Itacurubi FC's Narciso Rocha got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Narciso Rocha to make the kick off.
