The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Raí Cosme sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 20 minutes into the match, Ruestao's goal looked a bit too open when Raí Cosme came free, but Dionísio Rosa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 21 minutes, Genílson Quaresma made it 0-2 with a short kick to the right side. Ruestao's Dionísio Rosa tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. 27 minutes into the game, Rômulo Mattos recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Elói Berger. Rômulo Mattos showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-2. When the match clock showed 35 minutes, the score became 2-2 when Rômulo Mattos sped through Gloria's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Elói Berger. Régis Coutinho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 45th minute of the match, but Elói Berger made a huge save. The first half was very even, with the score at 2-2 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rômulo Mattos in the 57th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Elói Berger saved Gloria from getting behind. Dionísio Rosa made a fantastic save in the 63rd minute, when Raí Cosme sent off a good shot on target. In the 65th minute, Raí Cosme made a precise shot to the right of Dionísio Rosa. Ruestao's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-3. 73 minutes into the match, Ruestao's goalkeeper Dionísio Rosa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Raí Cosme. After some fancy dribbling in the 75th minute, Régis Coutinho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ruestao's supporters rose to their feet, but Régis Coutinho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Elói Berger breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Régis Coutinho in the 82nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Elói Berger saved Gloria from getting behind. Elói Berger made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rômulo Mattos in the 85th minute of play. After 93 played minutes Ruestao got a freekick which was hit by Robinho Meirelles. The supporters of Ruestao booed when Gloria was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Walmir Prado didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Gloria players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
