Nestor Linares came out of the goal and Filipe Couto tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Narciso Linhares sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 16 minutes into the match, Juventude Luterana's goalkeeper Nestor Linares had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Narciso Linhares. Juventude Luterana's Nestor Linares proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 19th minute of the match, managed to save Juventude Luterana from getting a goal against them. The audience was convinced that Filipe Couto's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nestor Linares was relentless in the 23rd minute of the game. In the 25th minute Filipe Couto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nestor Linares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpected shot in the 26th minute by Narciso Linhares got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Geovânio Pena charged in rather forcefully in the 42nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Geovânio Pena the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 43 played minutes Juventude Luterana got a freekick which was hit by Geovânio Pena. If Filipe Couto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Narciso Linhares sent away a hard shot on goal in the 50th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Filipe Couto was the one to do the kick off. In the 57th minute, Filipe Couto ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nestor Linares was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. After some careless play in the Juventude Luterana defense, Narciso Linhares kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nestor Linares. The Juventude Luterana fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nestor Linares should have stopped the shot. Narciso Linhares fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nestor Linares having to interfere. After 82 minutes of play, Laguna's Filipe Couto made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nestor Linares was left in no man's land by his defense there! After some fancy dribbling in the 86th minute, Narciso Linhares managed to get in a good position for a shot. Laguna's supporters rose to their feet, but Narciso Linhares was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nestor Linares breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Filipe Couto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nestor Linares having to interfere. Filipe Couto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nestor Linares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Filipe Couto in the 95th minute of play. In the 98th minute the ball was on its way in behind Juventude Luterana's goalkeeper Nestor Linares, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. There was no doubt that Laguna were the better team. Laguna's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
