Fernão Proença took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alfredo Romero, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Wágner Vieira hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Germano Pernambucano in the 8th minute of play forced Real Selece's goalkeeper Kaká de Brito to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Alfredo Romero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Zé Netto recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Fernão Proença showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alfredo Romero, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. In the 21st minute, one of Darcilena:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Darcilena. When Germano Pernambucano fell near the penalty area in the 25th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Darcilena's protests and gave Germano Pernambucano a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Real Selece booed when Darcilena was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Germano Pernambucano didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 29 minutes, Zé Netto mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Real Selece and the Darcilena players grew even worse after the yellow card. Jonathan de Medeiros kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Darcilena's zone, Alfredo Romero stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fernão Proença came out of the goal and Alfredo Romero tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience was convinced that Germano Pernambucano's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Kaká de Brito was relentless in the 40th minute of the game. Darcilena's Jonathan de Medeiros got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 44th minute Germano Pernambucano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kaká de Brito saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when Germano Pernambucano made the kick off in the second half. A hard shot 56 in the game by Germano Pernambucano from a close distance when the talented Kaká de Brito managed to make a qualified save. Real Selece's players were relieved. When Claudinei de Lara fell near the penalty area in the 58th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Darcilena's protests and gave Claudinei de Lara a yellow card for diving instead. After 58 played minutes Darcilena got a freekick which was hit by Claudinei de Lara. Luís Mazza blasted a shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Fernão Proença having to make a save. After 65 played minutes Darcilena got a freekick which was hit by Hermínio Pereira. With a little luck, Real Selece's Kaká de Brito got control of the ball when Germano Pernambucano tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 79th minute, Zé Netto ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Fernão Proença was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. After 82 minutes of play, Real Selece's Zé Netto made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Fernão Proença was left in no man's land by his defense there! Germano Pernambucano could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 89th minute of the match, but Kaká de Brito made a huge save. Kaká de Brito came out of the goal in the 95th minute to try and stop a shot by Darcilena's Germano Pernambucano. But to his dismay, Germano Pernambucano quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. Darcilena's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
