The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Richard Rich's Virgílio Ramalho proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 11th minute of the match, managed to save Richard Rich from getting a goal against them. In the 30th minute Moisés Botelho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Anísio Nogueira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luiz Fabiano Schmidt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Virgílio Ramalho having to interfere. Nelson Borges sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 41 minutes into the game, Calambao's Nelson Borges nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Virgílio Ramalho made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. In the 74th minute, Nelson Borges got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Nelson Borges sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Calambao's Anísio Nogueira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Moisés Botelho in the 78th minute of play. Juan Azevedo lost his temper 81 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 81st minute, one of Richard Rich:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Richard Rich. The Calambao fans' excitement grew in the 84th match minute when Calambao's Patrick Bezerra looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nelson Borges in the 90th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Virgílio Ramalho saved Richard Rich from getting behind. Virgílio Ramalho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nelson Borges in the 91st minute of play. In the 93rd minute Luiz Fabiano Schmidt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Virgílio Ramalho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Nelson Borges had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Isaltino Terra kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. Richard Rich's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
