The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Váldson França hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. Cássio de Lara took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cláudio Tavares, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jonathan Falcão got free with Ulysses Queiroz in the 11th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jonathan Falcão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Ulysses Queiroz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 15 minutes into the game, Cláudio Tavares cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Cássio de Lara was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. João Augusto de Godoi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Ulysses Queiroz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Noel de Brito kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. Ulysses Queiroz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ricardinho Toledo in the 29th minute of play. In the 30th minute, Wellington de Godoi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Assurua's Cássio de Lara played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cláudio Tavares in the 32nd minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers João Augusto de Godoi in the 34th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ulysses Queiroz saved Esporte Clube Igor from getting behind. When João Augusto de Godoi came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Assurua fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that João Augusto de Godoi couldn't finish the play. Cássio de Lara showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fred Simão in the 40th minute of the match. When Olavo Goiano fell near the penalty area in the 41st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Assurua's protests and gave Olavo Goiano a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Esporte Clube Igor booed when Assurua was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Olavo Goiano didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 44th minute of the match Esporte Clube Igor got a corner. Assurua's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Noel de Brito ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Esporte Clube Igor's Nelson Santos to fire away a dangerous shot which Cássio de Lara despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Esporte Clube Igor's Ulysses Queiroz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 46th minute of the match, managed to save Esporte Clube Igor from getting a goal against them. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

Assurua's Cássio de Lara proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 54th minute of the match, managed to save Assurua from getting a goal against them. João Augusto de Godoi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ulysses Queiroz having to interfere. If João Augusto de Godoi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Esporte Clube Igor's Cláudio Tavares in the 77th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Cássio de Lara was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Assurua through an amazing save. Olavo Goiano might have been able to make a better finish in the 81st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ulysses Queiroz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Olavo Goiano ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 84th minute, Esporte Clube Igor's Noel de Brito seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Noel de Brito the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Esporte Clube Igor protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Noel de Brito had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 83rd minute, one of Esporte Clube Igor:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Esporte Clube Igor. In the 86th minute there was a penalty for Assurua. Ricardinho Toledo stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Ulysses Queiroz. 1-1. After 90 played minutes Esporte Clube Igor got a freekick which was hit by Manoel Hermes. After 92 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Esporte Clube Igor! In the 95th minute there was a penalty for Assurua. Ricardinho Toledo stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Ulysses Queiroz. 2-1. Jonathan Falcão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 100th minute. Ulysses Queiroz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Assurua fully deserved thier win.
