Juninho Xavier hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. The supporters of Ibigalaxy booed when Etiquira was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jonas Vinhas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Walmir Bittencourt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cesinha Lopes having to interfere. After some careless play in the Ibigalaxy defense, Edu Alves kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ivo Guedes. The Ibigalaxy fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ivo Guedes should have stopped the shot. In the 21st minute Carlos Fernando Terra shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ivo Guedes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 22 minutes into the match, Ibigalaxy's goal looked a bit too open when Edu Alves came free, but Ivo Guedes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ivo Guedes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edu Alves, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 28 minutes into the match, Ibigalaxy's goal looked a bit too open when Edu Alves came free, but Ivo Guedes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Etiquira's zone, Wilton Alagoano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cesinha Lopes came out of the goal and Wilton Alagoano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Walmir Bittencourt was the one to do the kick off. After a rather tough play, Ibigalaxy's Juninho Xavier got a free kick in the 51st minute. Ademar Pena struck a weak shot in the 54th minute. Cesinha Lopes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ibigalaxy. Cesinha Lopes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Walmir Bittencourt in the 56th minute of the match. Cesinha Lopes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Walmir Bittencourt in the 59th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Fernando Terra in the 60th minute of play forced Ibigalaxy's goalkeeper Ivo Guedes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cesinha Lopes came out of the goal in the 61st minute to try and stop a shot by Ibigalaxy's Ademar Pena. But to his dismay, Ademar Pena quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. In the 73rd minute Renatinho Batista shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ivo Guedes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 75 played minutes Etiquira got a freekick which was hit by Paulo José Cearense. 79 minutes into the game, Mauro Salgado cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-3. Ivo Guedes was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mauro Salgado got free with Ivo Guedes in the 82nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpected shot in the 83rd minute by Mauro Salgado got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. 84 minutes into the match, Mauro Salgado had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ivo Guedes. Ibigalaxy's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mauro Salgado was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-4. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Fernando Terra in the 88th minute of play forced Ibigalaxy's goalkeeper Ivo Guedes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ivo Guedes made a fantastic save in the 89th minute, when Edu Alves sent off a good shot on target. Ibigalaxy's Ivo Guedes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Renatinho Batista in the 95th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Fernando Terra in the 96th minute of play forced Ibigalaxy's goalkeeper Ivo Guedes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Etiquira eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
