The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Naldo de Medeiros's late challenge caught a Cristais's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Naldo de Medeiros helped the player get up and apologised. Naldo de Medeiros kicked well hit freekick during the 5th minute of the match. If Pedro Paulo Koehler had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cristais's Luiz Paulo Cearense played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Umberto de Azevedo in the 14th minute of play. When Rubinho Brito fell near the penalty area in the 14th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cristais's protests and gave Rubinho Brito a yellow card for diving instead. Rubinho Brito kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Umberto de Azevedo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ceveira EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Umberto de Azevedo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luiz Paulo Cearense breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Luiz Paulo Cearense showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Umberto de Azevedo, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. In the 23rd match minute, Ceveira EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Caio Carvalho to maneuver through the defense. After 26 minutes, Aníbal Antunes made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Ceveira EC's Celso Teles tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adolfo Miranda in the 33rd minute of play forced Ceveira EC's goalkeeper Celso Teles to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Adolfo Miranda fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Celso Teles having to interfere. With a little luck, Cristais's Luiz Paulo Cearense got control of the ball when Pedro Paulo Koehler tried to sneak it across the goal line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Ceveira EC were furious when Henrique Lopez was red carded, 82 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 82nd minute, one of Ceveira EC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Ceveira EC. Aníbal Antunes who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 88thth minute tested the skills of Celso Teles when he managed to save the team from getting behind. With a little luck, Ceveira EC's Celso Teles got control of the ball when Aníbal Antunes tried to sneak it across the goal line. Pedro Paulo Koehler received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Luiz Paulo Cearense tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Pedro Paulo Koehler had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 98th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Cristais had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
