Luizão Pinho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Franklin Pitta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Iguaiba FC's Acácio Goiano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mazinho Guerra in the 11th minute of play. Gernando de Souza's late challenge caught a Iguaiba FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gernando de Souza helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Iguaiba FC booed when real ipsep was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gernando de Souza didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 14th minute Franklin Pitta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luizão Pinho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luizão Pinho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Franklin Pitta in the 15th minute of play. With a little luck, real ipsep's Luizão Pinho got control of the ball when Juvenal Quirino tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to Iguaiba FC getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Zé Roberto Favoretto hit a great ball. 20 minutes into the game, Magno Loureiro cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Acácio Goiano was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a rather tough play, real ipsep's Gernando de Souza got a free kick in the 23rd minute. 26 minutes into the match, real ipsep's goalkeeper Luizão Pinho had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Juvenal Quirino. 27 minutes into the game, Luís Fabiano Félix was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. real ipsep's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Iguaiba FC the free kick. In the 27th match minute, real ipsep was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luís Fabiano Félix to maneuver through the defense. Luizão Pinho acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 28th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Zé Roberto Favoretto. In the 39th match minute, real ipsep was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Elias Ramalho to maneuver through the defense. Mazinho Guerra sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Eduardo Meira was the one to do the kick off. If Mazinho Guerra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Iguaiba FC fans' excitement grew in the 93rd match minute when Iguaiba FC's Róbson Pernambucano looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Iguaiba FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
