In the 21st minute, Jubaia SC's Lucas Teixeira ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Agnaldo Prado. Agnaldo Prado yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-2. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Silvério Couto during the 25th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Vasco da Gama booed when Jubaia SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. The score stood at 2-2 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Andrézinho Mendes stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Agnaldo Prado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Silvério Couto in the 97th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Jubaia SC had won after a very even match.
