In the 12th minute Luís Carneiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ademar Vianna saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ronaldo Santana kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Blue Macaws's zone, Clóvis Damião stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ademar Vianna came out of the goal and Clóvis Damião tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Blue Macaws's Luís Fabiano Dionísio got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Blue Macaws booed when Campelo FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bernardo Vianna didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luís Fabiano Dionísio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Umberto de Barros having to interfere. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Juarês Branco came free with the goalkeeper in the 53rd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Umberto de Barros could save by the left post. 56 minutes into the match, Blue Macaws's goal looked a bit too open when Luís Carneiro came free, but Ademar Vianna reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ademar Vianna showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luís Carneiro in the 60th minute of the match. If Charles Lira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Blue Macaws's Ademar Vianna played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luís Carneiro in the 64th minute of play. Luís Fabiano Dionísio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Umberto de Barros tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Henrique de Senna kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Charles Lira in the 74th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ademar Vianna prevented the ball from getting in the gole.
