Narciso Gonçalves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Amauri Mandrak tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bebeto Matorin in the 47th minute of play forced Caietra EC's goalkeeper Ediberto Corrêa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The long shot by Ismael Garcia in the 50th minute really tested Ediberto Corrêa's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Bebeto Matorin was the one to do the kick off. The supporters of Caietra EC booed when Macaubas SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pedro Paulo Peres didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 62nd match minute, Macaubas SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Richard de Salles to maneuver through the defense. Jorginho Peixoto could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 63rd minute of the match, but Amauri Mandrak made a huge save. 66 minutes into the game, Leonel Messias was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Macaubas SS's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Caietra EC the free kick. After 66 played minutes Macaubas SS got a freekick which was hit by Leonel Messias. After some careless play in the Macaubas SS defense, Jorginho Peixoto kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Amauri Mandrak. The Macaubas SS fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Amauri Mandrak should have stopped the shot. Ediberto Corrêa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bebeto Matorin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 73rd minute, André Luís Tinoco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Pedrão Paraibano took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 73rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Ediberto Corrêa. Caietra EC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Ediberto Corrêa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pedro Paulo Peres in the 97th minute of the match. Caietra EC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
