But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rubens Catarinense couldn't finish the play. When Toninho Linhares fell near the penalty area in the 11th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Pintos FC's protests and gave Toninho Linhares a yellow card for diving instead. Toninho Linhares kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. Célio Ribeiro charged in rather forcefully in the 24th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Célio Ribeiro the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 27th minute, Carlos Fernando Oliveira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sebastião Loureiro stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Dadá Faria took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 52nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Alessandro Corrêa. Pintos FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Paulinho Dracena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Alessandro Corrêa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paulinho Dracena, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With his leg Ismael Viana managed to avoid a goal in the 71stth minute, when Pintos FC's Sebastião Loureiro fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After a rather tough play, Pintos FC's Haroldo Arantes got a free kick in the 74th minute. 75 minutes into the match, Pachecao EC's Dadá Faria broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. When Rubens Catarinense came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the Pachecao EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rubens Catarinense couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paulinho Dracena in the 83rd minute of play forced Pintos FC's goalkeeper Alessandro Corrêa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 89 played minutes Pachecao EC got a freekick which was hit by Cafu Mineiro. There was no doubt that Pachecao EC were the better team. Pachecao EC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
