With 34 minutes on the clock, Wanderson de Senna commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 33rd minute, one of Gunies Boys:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Gunies Boys. When the match had been going on for 36 minutes, Itaqui FC's Dé de Alcântara got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Sydney França. In the 41st minute Sabino Vale shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sydney França saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 42nd minute, Hílton Oliveira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 46th minute, Basílio de Medeiros got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sabino Vale to make the kick off. Sydney França showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luís Fabiano Castro in the 52nd minute of the match.
