Adrianinho Ferreira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 8th minute Claudinei do Valle shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Adrianinho Ferreira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Itapuan EC booed when Santos United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luizinho Mattos didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience was convinced that Tiago Azevedo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Adrianinho Ferreira was relentless in the 13th minute of the game. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Claudinei do Valle in the 30th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Adrianinho Ferreira saved Santos United from getting behind. José Paulo Terra charged in rather forcefully in the 32nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed José Paulo Terra the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Itapuan EC's José Paulo Terra got a free kick in the 32nd minute. Claudinei do Valle took the ball and in the 37 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Adrianinho Ferreira. Adrianinho Ferreira dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. After a defensive mix-up in Santos United's zone, Tiago Azevedo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Adrianinho Ferreira came out of the goal and Tiago Azevedo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 44th minute Claudinei do Valle shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Adrianinho Ferreira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Itapuan EC's Tiago Azevedo in the 48th minute got a chance for a shot 48th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Santos United's goalie prevented a goal. After the first half Itapuan EC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Luizinho Mattos made a kick off. Itapuan EC's Tiago Azevedo got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Adrianinho Ferreira made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tiago Azevedo in the 54th minute. 57 minutes had been played when some careless play by Santos United's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Leandro Lira was slow to take the kick. During this time Itapuan EC's players had a chance to rest. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dito Dante during the 60th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. If Claudinei do Valle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Adrianinho Ferreira made a fantastic save in the 67th minute, when Tiago Azevedo sent off a good shot on target. Santos United's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Claudinei do Valle 69 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 0-3. In the 73rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Santos United's goalkeeper Adrianinho Ferreira, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Santos United's Adrianinho Ferreira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Claudinei do Valle in the 77th minute of play. Tiago Azevedo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adrianinho Ferreira having to interfere. Tiago Azevedo who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 83rdth minute tested the skills of Adrianinho Ferreira when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Adrianinho Ferreira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Claudinei do Valle, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. Luciano Loyola hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. In the 98th minute Claudinei do Valle shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Adrianinho Ferreira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Itapuan EC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
