In the 11th minute Luizão Guimarães shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Daniel Coutinho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Manuel de Souza hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. Gonçalo Montenegro struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Lúcio Braga didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Itapeipu. If Fellipe Garcia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The tension between the Hertz FC and the Itapeipu players grew even worse after the yellow card. Hertz FC's Luizão Guimarães got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Luizão Guimarães had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. João Pedro Domingues charged in rather forcefully in the 47th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed João Pedro Domingues the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Fellipe Garcia made a kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luizão Guimarães got free with Daniel Coutinho in the 57th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Hertz FC's Lúcio Braga played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fellipe Garcia in the 59th minute of play. Lúcio Braga stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Fellipe Garcia's shot from short distance in the 65th minute. 66 minutes into the match, Itapeipu's goalkeeper Daniel Coutinho had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Luizão Guimarães. In the 72nd minute Fellipe Garcia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lúcio Braga saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
