Flamengo Esporte Clube's Vitinho de Souza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Augusto de Godoi in the 4th minute of play. Vitinho de Souza was a little too slow when Alex Quadros got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 5th minute. The score was now 1-0. After a rather tough play, Flamengo Esporte Clube's Zé Pedro Pimenta got a free kick in the 16th minute. 18 minutes into the game, Gino Paraense was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Flamengo Esporte Clube's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Quarahy the free kick. In the 18th minute, Gino Paraense hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Alex Quadros took the ball and in the 21 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Vitinho de Souza. Vitinho de Souza dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. Fernando Pires hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. After 27 minutes, José Augusto de Godoi mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Quarahy and the Flamengo Esporte Clube players grew even worse after the yellow card. José Augusto de Godoi kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. Denílson Pimenta showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zé Pedro Pimenta, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Téo Guerra sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luiz Sá struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Denílson Pimenta didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Flamengo Esporte Clube. In the 34th minute Zé Pedro Pimenta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Denílson Pimenta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Zé Pedro Pimenta in the 35th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Denílson Pimenta prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some careless play in the Flamengo Esporte Clube defense, Alex Quadros kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Vitinho de Souza. The Flamengo Esporte Clube fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Vitinho de Souza should have stopped the shot. After a rather tough play, Quarahy's Fernando Pires got a free kick in the 42nd minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Wellington de Barros during the 45th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 45 minutes into the game, one of Quarahy:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Zé Pedro Pimenta was the one to do the kick off. Zé Pedro Pimenta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Elias da Mata fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Denílson Pimenta having to interfere. In the 79th minute Guto Amaral shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vitinho de Souza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match clock showed 81 minutes, the score became 4-2 when Zé Pedro Pimenta sped through Quarahy's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Denílson Pimenta. When Elias da Mata came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the Flamengo Esporte Clube fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Elias da Mata couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alex Quadros in the 86th minute of play forced Flamengo Esporte Clube's goalkeeper Vitinho de Souza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 89th minute Zé Pedro Pimenta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Denílson Pimenta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Quarahy's Denílson Pimenta got control of the ball when Elias da Mata tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a rather tough play, Flamengo Esporte Clube's Elias da Mata got a free kick in the 92nd minute. Quarahy's Allan Quadros was substituted for Guto Amaral. The referee gave Quarahy a penalty, 100 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Cipriano Queirós, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Flamengo Esporte Clube's Vitinho de Souza. 5-2. Quarahy's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
