But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Faustão Castro couldn't finish the play. The referee felt a red card was in order, 18 minutes into the game, when Digo Maia put in a rough tackle. 17 minutes into the game, one of Guararu SS:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Júlio Tavares placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! An unexpectedly hard shot by Faustão Castro in the 21st minute of play forced Guararu SS's goalkeeper Dorian Coutinho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 24th minute, Anselmo Félix managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lapa's supporters rose to their feet, but Anselmo Félix was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dorian Coutinho breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Dorian Coutinho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Faustão Castro, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Luís Eduardo Soeiro during the 35th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Henrique Lima fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Percy Furtado having to interfere. If Henrique Lima had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Anselmo Félix to make the kick off. Guararu SS's Henrique Lima got a good chance for a goal in the 56th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Faustão Castro might have been able to make a better finish in the 58th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dorian Coutinho. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Faustão Castro ran back to his position shaking his head. After some fancy dribbling in the 59th minute, Faustão Castro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lapa's supporters rose to their feet, but Faustão Castro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dorian Coutinho breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Lapa getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Dorival Motta hit a great ball. Henrique Lima fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Percy Furtado having to interfere. Ulisses das Neves struck a weak shot in the 72nd minute. Percy Furtado didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Guararu SS. Guararu SS's Dorian Coutinho proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 75th minute of the match, managed to save Guararu SS from getting a goal against them. If Anselmo Félix had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 82 minutes into the game, Albertino Lima was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Guararu SS's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Lapa the free kick. In the 82nd match minute, Guararu SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Albertino Lima to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Henrique Lima in the 86th minute of play forced Lapa's goalkeeper Percy Furtado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Faustão Castro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Wilton Arce had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 92 minutes into the match, Guararu SS's goalkeeper Dorian Coutinho had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Faustão Castro. Gildo Oliveira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Percy Furtado having to interfere. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
