Anísio Arósio charged in rather forcefully in the 4th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Anísio Arósio the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Anísio Arósio hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. Assuncao SS's Marquinhos de Medeiros proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 7th minute of the match, managed to save Assuncao SS from getting a goal against them. In the 12th minute Lenílson Gaúcho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Faustão Monteiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lenílson Gaúcho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Faustão Monteiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 1-0 became the score in the 17th minute when Tião Cruz elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Manoel de Sena who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 25thth minute tested the skills of Marquinhos de Medeiros when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Joaquim Amaral fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Faustão Monteiro having to interfere. After having played for 28 minutes, Joaquim Amaral managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Assuncao SS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joaquim Amaral was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Joaquim Amaral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 36th minute, Joaquim Amaral left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Assuncao SS fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Assuncao SS's Lenílson Gaúcho got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Marquinhos de Medeiros showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tião Cruz, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. Faustão Monteiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lenílson Gaúcho in the 48th minute of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

52 minutes into the match, Jaboti EC's goal looked a bit too open when Lenílson Gaúcho came free, but Faustão Monteiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Joaquim Amaral got free with Faustão Monteiro in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Marquinhos de Medeiros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tião Cruz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Anísio Arósio hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. 59 minutes into the game, Jaboti EC's Tião Cruz nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Marquinhos de Medeiros made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. Tião Cruz struck a weak shot in the 63rd minute. Marquinhos de Medeiros didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Jaboti EC. Manoel de Sena fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marquinhos de Medeiros having to interfere. The supporters of Jaboti EC booed when Assuncao SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Doriva Carioca didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Manoel de Sena in the 78th minute of play forced Assuncao SS's goalkeeper Marquinhos de Medeiros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tião Cruz might have been able to make a better finish in the 80th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Marquinhos de Medeiros. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tião Cruz ran back to his position shaking his head. Marquinhos de Medeiros showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tião Cruz, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. Tião Cruz struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Marquinhos de Medeiros didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Jaboti EC. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Jaboti EC had won after a very even match.
