The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ramón Esteves helped the player get up and apologised. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 24th minute of the game. One of Tupy FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Criciuma:s goal. The referee ignored Tupy FC's protests and gave Adilson Rocha a yellow card for diving instead. Criciuma's Washington Brito couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 36th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Tupy FC. Criciuma's Wilson Veiga got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Tupy FC's Rony Quirino in the 48th minute got a chance for a shot 48th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Criciuma's goalie prevented a goal.

The wind increased when Rony Quirino made the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute Rony Quirino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Reynaldo Jacinto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Jeremias Soares's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Reynaldo Jacinto was relentless in the 56th minute of the game. After having played for 58 minutes, Jeremias Soares managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tupy FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jeremias Soares was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jeremias Soares recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 68 minutes into the match, Jeremias Soares had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Reynaldo Jacinto. Criciuma's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jeremias Soares was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. After 72 minutes, Edu Loyola mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Tupy FC and the Criciuma players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 74th minute Wilson Veiga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jorge Lucas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Tupy FC's zone, Wilson Veiga stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jorge Lucas came out of the goal and Wilson Veiga tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Wilson Veiga fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorge Lucas having to interfere. When Faustão Carneiro fell near the penalty area in the 89th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Tupy FC's protests and gave Faustão Carneiro a yellow card for diving instead. In the 89th match minute, Tupy FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Faustão Carneiro to maneuver through the defense. In the 91st match minute, Criciuma was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cipriano Teixeira to maneuver through the defense. Cipriano Teixeira's late challenge caught a Tupy FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cipriano Teixeira helped the player get up and apologised. Criciuma's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
