Marcel Araújo made a fantastic save in the 13th minute, when Zézinho de Queirós sent off a good shot on target. In the 15th minute, Caetano Santos left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Caioba fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. A collision led to Pombal FC getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Kléber Seco hit a great ball. After 18 played minutes Caioba got a freekick which was hit by Zeca de Souza. If Zeca de Souza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Zézinho de Queirós got free with Marcel Araújo in the 26th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Jeferson Eger came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Pombal FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jeferson Eger couldn't finish the play. In the 34th minute Zeca de Souza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcel Araújo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jeferson Eger charged in rather forcefully in the 35th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jeferson Eger the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Pombal FC's Jeferson Eger got a free kick in the 35th minute. The supporters of Pombal FC booed when Caioba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chiquinho Azevedo didn't get a good kick on the ball. A hard shot 47 in the game by Zézinho de Queirós from a close distance when the talented Marcel Araújo managed to make a qualified save. Pombal FC's players were relieved. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Elano Albuquerque made a kick off. Marcel Araújo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zeca de Souza, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. Marcel Araújo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zézinho de Queirós in the 59th minute of the match. Marcel Araújo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zeca de Souza in the 60th minute of play. If Luisinho Pimenta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marcel Araújo didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Zeca de Souza went, in the 71st minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zézinho de Queirós in the 76th minute of play forced Pombal FC's goalkeeper Marcel Araújo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 80 minutes into the game, Zézinho de Queirós cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-0. Marcel Araújo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Zézinho de Queirós hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. In the 86th match minute, Caioba was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dráuzio Santana to maneuver through the defense. Alan de Mendonça made a fantastic save in the 87th minute, when Elano Albuquerque sent off a good shot on target. Caioba's Alan de Mendonça proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 88th minute of the match, managed to save Caioba from getting a goal against them. Elano Albuquerque received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Alan de Mendonça tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 97 minutes into the match, Zeca de Souza had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Marcel Araújo. Pombal FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Zeca de Souza was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-0. Caioba were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Pombal FC for a fine match.
