The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The referee gave Macarau AD a penalty, 12 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Geovanni Ramos, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Marcondesia EC's Waldemar da Silva. 1-0. Waldemar da Silva breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Thiago Passos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 31st match minute, Marcondesia EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Belmiro Queirós to maneuver through the defense. In the 32nd minute of the match Sebastião Tasso sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Waldemar da Silva skillfully saved the ball. Hélder de Queirós received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. After 48 played minutes Marcondesia EC got a freekick which was hit by Sílvio Luís Seco.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Thiago Passos to strike the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Macarau AD's Geovanni Ramos got a free kick in the 56th minute. After some careless play in the Marcondesia EC defense, Thiago Passos kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Waldemar da Silva. The Marcondesia EC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Waldemar da Silva should have stopped the shot. Macarau AD's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Marcondesia EC the free kick. Giovani Motta hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfredinho Bastos in the 71st minute of play forced Marcondesia EC's goalkeeper Waldemar da Silva to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. José Pedro de Castro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Denílson Urbano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thiago Passos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The Macarau AD fans' excitement grew in the 78th match minute when Macarau AD's Thiago Passos looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. Macarau AD's Hélder de Queirós got a good chance for a goal in the 81st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Marcondesia EC's Juvenal Barros got a good chance for a goal in the 85th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. José Pedro de Castro acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 93rd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Geraldo Sampaio. Hélder de Queirós received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute.
