After a rather tough play, National FC's Raí Motta got a free kick in the 24th minute. 26 minutes into the match, National FC's goal looked a bit too open when Luiz Fabiano Alves came free, but Arnaldo Almeida reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee ignored National FC's protests and gave Gustavo Coelho a yellow card for diving instead. In a very dangerous position, a player in National FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 35th minute. Penalty! Arnaldo Almeida went to the wrong direction when Willian Lucas was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by João Vítor Meirelles in the 65th minute of play forced National FC's goalkeeper Arnaldo Almeida to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
