Abel Mesquita's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gernando Ramos read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 10th minute of play. 13 minutes into the game, Zeca Santana was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Pinhaozinho SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Jacarau SC the free kick. The supporters of Jacarau SC booed when Pinhaozinho SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zeca Santana didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience was convinced that Remo Senna's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gernando Ramos was relentless in the 14th minute of the game. Abel Mesquita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Marcelo Hoffmann fell near the penalty area in the 30th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Jacarau SC's protests and gave Marcelo Hoffmann a yellow card for diving instead. After 29 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Jacarau SC! In the 31st minute there was a penalty for Pinhaozinho SC. Nicolas Cardozo stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Valdomiro Cabral. 1-0. During the 33rd minute of the match Zeca Santana completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Zeca Santana a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. 37 minutes into the match, Pinhaozinho SC's goal looked a bit too open when Remo Senna came free, but Gernando Ramos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Abel Mesquita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Nicolas Cardozo hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Gernando Ramos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Remo Senna, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 60 minutes, Erivaldo Leal managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pinhaozinho SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Erivaldo Leal was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 61st minute, Remo Senna reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Gernando Ramos. The goal made the score 1-1. 66 minutes into the match, Jacarau SC's goal looked a bit too open when Erivaldo Leal came free, but Valdomiro Cabral reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Valdomiro Cabral showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Erivaldo Leal, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, Erivaldo Leal managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pinhaozinho SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Erivaldo Leal was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Valdomiro Cabral breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 74th minute the ball was on its way in behind Pinhaozinho SC's goalkeeper Gernando Ramos, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Rafael Rosa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Erivaldo Leal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 82nd minute Erivaldo Leal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Valdomiro Cabral saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Benjamin dos Santos couldn't finish the play.
