Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Donato do Nascimento started the match with the kick off. A collision led to Atlético Maranhense getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. Andrézinho Neiva hit a great ball. When Donato do Nascimento came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the Potunduva fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Donato do Nascimento couldn't finish the play. Donato do Nascimento was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 13th minute. Potunduva's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Rodrigo Barral charged in rather forcefully in the 17th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rodrigo Barral the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 17th minute, Rodrigo Barral hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dida Cordeiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gilberto Fontes in the 24th minute of play forced Potunduva's goalkeeper Elói Alcântara to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 1-0 became the score in the 25th minute when Felippe de Mendonça elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Rodrigo Barral sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jean Rossi came out of the goal in the 40th minute to try and stop a shot by Potunduva's Felippe de Mendonça. But to his dismay, Felippe de Mendonça quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. Elói Alcântara made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dida Cordeiro in the 45th minute of play. Felippe de Mendonça could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 47th minute of the match, but Jean Rossi made a huge save.

The wind increased when Gilberto Fontes made the kick off in the second half. Donato do Nascimento received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Jean Rossi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Felippe de Mendonça's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jean Rossi was relentless in the 61st minute of the game. A collision led to Atlético Maranhense getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Luís Fabiano Oliveira hit a great ball. Felippe de Mendonça sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Donato do Nascimento in the 69th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jean Rossi saved Atlético Maranhense from getting behind. Elói Alcântara stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gilberto Fontes's shot from short distance in the 70th minute. Breno Matos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jean Rossi having to interfere. After some careless play in the Atlético Maranhense defense, Donato do Nascimento kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jean Rossi. The Atlético Maranhense fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jean Rossi should have stopped the shot. The supporters of Atlético Maranhense booed when Potunduva was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rodrigo Barral didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jean Rossi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Donato do Nascimento, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Donato do Nascimento fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jean Rossi having to interfere. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Potunduva fully deserved thier win.
