The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Luís Eduardo Nascimento showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. If Marcelinho Loureiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 25 minutes of play, Beta Z's Tibúrcio Paraense made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Kiko da Silveira was left in no man's land by his defense there! Ramón Gonçalves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After having played for 30 minutes, Paulo Senna managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Beta Z's supporters crossed their fingers, but Paulo Senna was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ramón Gonçalves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luís Eduardo Nascimento having to interfere. Marcelinho Loureiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. João Barbosa received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Luís Eduardo Nascimento came out and tried to block the shot, but João Barbosa slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 44th minute. João Barbosa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when João Barbosa stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. José Maria Carneiro hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. Kiko da Silveira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcelinho Loureiro in the 54th minute of play. When Tibúrcio Paraense came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the Beta Z fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tibúrcio Paraense couldn't finish the play. In the 70th minute the ball was on its way in behind Thebus's goalkeeper Kiko da Silveira, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 72 played minutes Thebus got a freekick which was hit by Oséias Tasso. An unexpectedly hard shot by João Barbosa in the 79th minute of play forced Beta Z's goalkeeper Luís Eduardo Nascimento to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luís Eduardo Nascimento didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Frederico Pontes went, in the 81st minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. Paulo Senna could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 86th minute of the match, but Kiko da Silveira made a huge save. Luís Eduardo Nascimento showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from João Barbosa, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tibúrcio Paraense in the 92nd minute of play forced Thebus's goalkeeper Kiko da Silveira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luís Eduardo Nascimento stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ramón Gonçalves's shot from short distance in the 96th minute. Beta Z's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Thebus had won, even though Beta Z had held more of the ball.
