The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Gilvan de Queiroz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 3rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 7th minute Gilvan de Queiroz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedro Brodel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gilvan de Queiroz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Pedro Brodel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 14th minute, Juninho Nóbrega managed to get in a good position for a shot. Super Campeões F.C.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Juninho Nóbrega was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Pedro Brodel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Maniva booed when Super Campeões F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Juninho Nóbrega didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 22nd minute, Norberto Nogueira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Noel Carneiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Gilvan de Queiroz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Super Campeões F.C.'s zone, Reinaldo Esteves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Diamantino Peres came out of the goal and Reinaldo Esteves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gilvan de Queiroz in the 38th minute of play forced Maniva's goalkeeper Pedro Brodel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Danilo Soeiro hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. Martijn Groten fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pedro Brodel having to interfere. Pedro Brodel stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gilvan de Queiroz's shot from short distance in the 47th minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gilvan de Queiroz to make the kick off. Diamantino Peres took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Danilo Soeiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 57th minute, Reinaldo Esteves ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Diamantino Peres was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. Reinaldo Esteves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 64th minute, Martijn Groten got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Gilvan de Queiroz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 69 minutes into the match, Martijn Groten had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Pedro Brodel. Maniva's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Martijn Groten was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. In the 73rd minute, Super Campeões F.C.'s Gilvan de Queiroz ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Pedro Brodel. Pedro Brodel yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-2. In the 76th minute Gilvan de Queiroz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedro Brodel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 78 minutes into the match, Super Campeões F.C.'s Gilvan de Queiroz sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Pedro Brodel narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 85th minute, Juninho Nóbrega left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Super Campeões F.C. fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-3. Super Campeões F.C.'s players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
