The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Donatello das Neves helped the player get up and apologised. Patanhaem SS's Afonsinho Costa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 15th minute of the match, managed to save Patanhaem SS from getting a goal against them. Hélio Costa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Willian Valladares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Patanhaem SS's Hélio Costa managed to work through Ascencao's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Hélio Costa dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. 21 minutes into the match, Ascencao's goal looked a bit too open when Hélio Costa came free, but Willian Valladares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ascencao were furious when Nilmar Hoffmann was red carded, 28 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 29th minute there was a penalty for Patanhaem SS. Wiliam do Valle stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Willian Valladares. 1-1. If João Zilles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Afonsinho Costa didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Josué Nogueira went, in the 39th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. If Josué Nogueira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 46th minute, Valdir Coutinho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Hélio Costa to make the kick off. Patanhaem SS's Hélio Costa got a good chance for a goal in the 58th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Josué Nogueira recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Pedro Rosa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Afonsinho Costa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 63rd minute Josué Nogueira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Afonsinho Costa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 66 minutes, Pedro Rosa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ascencao's supporters crossed their fingers, but Pedro Rosa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Afonsinho Costa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Josué Nogueira, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. Adriano Novaes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 76th minute, João Zilles made a precise shot to the right of Willian Valladares. Ascencao's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. If João Zilles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hélio Costa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Willian Valladares having to interfere. If Hélio Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 91 minutes into the match, Josué Nogueira notched a goal, 3-2, to the right of Patanhaem SS's Afonsinho Costa. Afonsinho Costa was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Adriano Novaes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute.
