The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a defensive mix-up in Gramados's zone, Luís Guilherme Mesquita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eriberto Tepedino came out of the goal and Luís Guilherme Mesquita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gramados's Eriberto Tepedino played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luís Guilherme Mesquita in the 19th minute of play. Alessandro Trancoso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paulo José Tróia in the 25th minute of play forced chapel de touro's goalkeeper Zézinho Rosado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 30 minutes into the match, chapel de touro's Luís Guilherme Mesquita sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Eriberto Tepedino narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Luís Guilherme Mesquita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eriberto Tepedino having to interfere. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Paulo José Tróia stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Alessandro Trancoso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 56th minute, Felipe Linhares hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 59 played minutes chapel de touro got a freekick which was hit by Alessandro Trancoso. Gramados's supporters rose to their feet, but Paulo José Tróia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nando Maciel's late challenge caught a Gramados's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nando Maciel helped the player get up and apologised. Nando Maciel hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. Many of chapel de touro's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. chapel de touro may have spent more time on the ball, but Gramados were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
