Zézinho Matorin charged in rather forcefully in the 19th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Nestor Luz walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. Renato Arósio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from José Augusto Guerra, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. Sílvio Quintal's late challenge caught a Alhandra SS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. The Alhandra SS fans cheered their team off the field, for while Pumba had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
