Adhemar da Fonseca could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 3rd minute of the match, but Tomás Silva made a huge save. When Umburetama's Maurinho Romero in the 5th minute got a chance for a shot 5th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Duartina's goalie prevented a goal. Adhemar da Fonseca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 12 minutes into the match, Umburetama's goal looked a bit too open when Adhemar da Fonseca came free, but Tomás Silva reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 14 minutes of play, Umburetama's Maurinho Romero made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Claudinei Berger was left in no man's land by his defense there! Jorginho Zanette recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 19th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 21st minute the ball was on its way in behind Duartina's goalkeeper Claudinei Berger, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Conrado Barbosa kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. Duartina's Betão Leal got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Adhemar da Fonseca came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the Duartina fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Adhemar da Fonseca couldn't finish the play. If Betão Leal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 32nd minute, Betão Leal got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 40thth minute of the game Betão Leal who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Umburetama's Tomás Silva was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Maurinho Romero received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Claudinei Berger tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Betão Leal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

After having played for 54 minutes, Betão Leal managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Duartina's supporters crossed their fingers, but Betão Leal was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Umburetama's Tomás Silva played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adhemar da Fonseca in the 55th minute of play. When Betão Leal came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Duartina fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Betão Leal couldn't finish the play. After some careless play in the Umburetama defense, Adhemar da Fonseca kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tomás Silva. The Umburetama fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tomás Silva should have stopped the shot. Maurinho Romero charged in rather forcefully in the 62nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Maurinho Romero the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Umburetama's Maurinho Romero got a free kick in the 62nd minute. 66 minutes into the match, Adhemar da Fonseca had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tomás Silva. Umburetama's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Adhemar da Fonseca was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. Adhemar da Fonseca recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 74 minutes, Betão Leal managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tomás Silva showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from João Paulo Mello in the 77th minute of the match. Tomás Silva showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Betão Leal, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. 80 minutes into the match, Duartina's goalkeeper Claudinei Berger had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Maurinho Romero. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Betão Leal in the 81st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tomás Silva prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When the match clock showed 83 minutes, the score became 4-1 when Betão Leal sped through Umburetama's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Tomás Silva. In the 87th minute Adhemar da Fonseca shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tomás Silva saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Adhemar da Fonseca received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Tomás Silva tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee ended the match the Duartina players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
