After 18 played minutes, Adlaide Esporte Clube's Fernandinho Rocha shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Frank Barros came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Adlaide Esporte Clube reached it. Paulão Valle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nilton Netto made a fantastic save in the 22nd minute, when Paulão Valle sent off a good shot on target. Nilton Netto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Abelardo Vianna, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Adlaide Esporte Clube's Nilton Netto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abelardo Vianna in the 47th minute of play.

Vivaldo Mello struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Frank Barros didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Adlaide Esporte Clube. After a defensive mix-up in Poa's zone, Almir Trigo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Frank Barros came out of the goal and Almir Trigo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Vivaldo Mello who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 55thth minute tested the skills of Frank Barros when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Nilton Netto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luís Fabiano Koehler, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 60 minutes into the match, Baltazar Massa had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nilton Netto. Adlaide Esporte Clube's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Baltazar Massa was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. Nilton Netto didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Luís Fabiano Koehler went, in the 64th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-0 was the resulting score. Paulão Valle hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. Vivaldo Mello in the 72ndth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Baltazar Massa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Nilton Netto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 93 minutes, Abelardo Vianna put it in 6-0 from a short distance just to the right of Nilton Netto. Nilton Netto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Baltazar Massa in the 96th minute of the match. Adlaide Esporte Clube's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
