An unexpectedly hard shot by Délio de Mendonça in the 10th minute of play forced Chelsea FC's goalkeeper Álvaro Peixoto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Chelsea FC booed when Barroquinha was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sílvio Peres didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alfred Janster charged in rather forcefully in the 22nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. In the 90th minute of the match Tostão Fernandes shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Valdir Maciel showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Barroquinha's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
